Our Philosophy: The Three P's

PRACTICAL

Practice on and off the cushion

Meditation does not have to be complicated or deeply philosophical. It needs to be experienced and practiced. Every day.

Implementation of the learnings into every day life is our priority. Approaching the teachings practically, with structure and down to earth methods.

We help you form a habit. We integrate the practice into your routine. We let you experience the positive effects.

PERSONAL

Make meditation work for you

Meditation is a personal practice. What works for me might work for you in a different way.

Making meditation work for you personally is a main focus in this training.

Your time. Your pace. Your habit.

We help you tailor the practice to your needs. We guide personally (online), through videos, audios, manual and live sessions. We give you the tools to meditate on your own.

PEOPLE

Go beyond the lonely apps

Meditation apps are great. But an app can only bring you so far.

Going beyond generic guidance and mass meditations is the key. Personally guided meditations, accessibility to ancient content, and exchanging of ideas in a community setting.

We are here for you. We meet. We provide guidance and a space to grow. We have fun together.

KOLIN PURCELL

Kolin first tried meditation 10 years ago while studying engineering at the University of Michigan, and was initially unimpressed. But as the struggles of an overly packed modern lifestyle continued to hammer on his psyche, he decided to give it another try…

8 years of daily practice later, his life passion has become helping others to navigate the path which has borne so much fruit for him and so many he’s encountered. His emphasis is on bringing the sometimes esoteric-feeling concepts of meditation to people in a relatable way.

This passion for teaching and learning has sent him crisscrossing the planet. Initially, as the founder of a global mindfulness based wellness program engaging hundreds of employees in the practice of meditation. And later, as a solo traveler on a journey around the world living in monasteries and attending retreats to better understand the ancient roots of meditation.

ANNA SCHLEGEL

Anna’s first exposure to meditation was through the tradition of yoga, which she has been practicing and studying under various teachers, all over the world for 10 years. In 2016 she became certified as a yoga teacher with the Zuna Yoga school in Bali, Indonesia.

In search of a more practical and down to earth approach to meditation, she then encountered Vipassana in Israel. After practicing this form daily for over a year, she began to feel restricted by the rigid and antiquated style of Goenka meditation, and decided to look for a more accessible approach. This led her to the Asian continent where she attended (and later led) silent retreats based on a more modern form of mindfulness.

3 years later, she is spreading the teachings of mindfulness through her classes, workshops, retreats and (teacher) trainings across the globe. For others to experience what she experiences through this wonderful practice: presence, awareness and living life fully and happily.

Is this training for me?

This training for you, if your are EITHER a beginner and want to learn how to meditate and incorporate a practical meditation practice into your life… OR if you are already meditating regularly and want to enhance the depth of your practice.

This training is for you if you want to be flexible to learn at your own pace and on your own time, but still want personal guidance and a space to ask questions and exchange knowledge.

This training is for you, if you want the tools to make meditation an essential part of your daily life.

I already have a meditation practice, is this training still for me?

Yes! If you already have a daily meditation practice, great. However, meditation is a life-long journey and there is always room for improvement. If you already have a practice, you will still find it useful to get various new inputs on how to practice, and even more importantly, how to practically apply the teachings to everyday life. Self-practice without input can only get you so far.

Even as teachers and multi-year daily meditators, we are constantly seeking new input for ourselves via retreats, trainings, workshops, and communication with our teachers. This training will give you the personalized tips, specific tools/techniques, and supportive community to get you further.

What is meditation?

Meditation is a practice in which an individual uses a technique to train themselves to be more aware, achieve mental clarity and stability, emotional calmness and, in some forms of meditation, specific mental states.

What is mindfulness?

“Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us.” Being aware of the here and now, is mindfulness. Being able to be fully present and observe everything you do, you think, feel and experience in that very moment, without any judgment and attachment towards it.

What type of meditation are we practicing?

We practice primarily Mindfulness Meditation.

Mindfulness Meditation is a direct and gradual cultivation of mindfulness or awareness. One’s attention is carefully directed to an intense examination of certain aspects of one’s existence. Meaning, we train ourselves to notice more and more of our experience every second.

Why can't I learn meditation with an app?

You can! And we encourage it! However, most people find that meditation apps can only get them so far. Because they are designed to appeal to a wide audience, it can be difficult to understand how to personalize the practice for you.

Everyone’s path to learning meditation is filled with confusions leading to questions, which is where having access to an experienced teacher or a like-minded community can make a huge difference.

I cannot meditate.

First of all, that’s not a question…

But, this is a common thought people get into their head. But as we will study in the training, many of our thoughts do not represent reality…

We often like to think we’re a special being whose mind is too busy for a practice like meditation. But the reality is anyone can learn to meditate. But as with any new skill, the beginning can be difficult. Especially without the proper guidance.

We show you that you CAN meditate.

Running is my meditation.

Not a question either… but so often we hear people talking about how running, biking, reading or a whole host of other activities “is their meditation”.

Whenever we do anything to engage our bodies or minds, there is necessarily an element of training or improvement involved. But formal mindful meditation practice is unique from most other healthy activities, in that it involves stepping away from regular physical and cognitive processes (“doing”) and watching as they occur on their own (“being”).

It’s possible to be mindful while exercising or doing other activities, which we will definitely discuss. But spending a little time every day in meditation where you are only in this observer mode, yields distinct benefits.

How much time do I need for this training?

There is a time investment of estimated 6 hours per week. This includes the daily practice on your own, one live 90 minute meeting per week, and self-study of the online content (theory videos & workshops, journaling exercises).

When are the live weekly meetings?

The live meetings will be on Sundays, and each one will last approximately 90 minutes.

There will also be opening and closing ceremonies of 90 minutes at the beginning and end of the training.

The exact times will be determined once we know the time zones and availability of the participants.

Do I need to attend to live weekly meetings?

You don’t have to do anything in life. However, we highly encourage you to attend all live meetings.

The live meetings are a core part of this training. They offer a chance to interact with the teachers, form connection with like-minded people and a space to explore, exchange, ask questions and share insights.

If you are not able to attend a meeting, please talk to the teachers in advance. The meetings will be recorded.

When do I have to do my daily practice?

You choose the time for your daily practice. The time investment for this will be 15-20 minutes per day.

What is a 1-on-1?

A 1-on-1 is a personal online meeting between you and one of the teachers.

In this meeting you have the chance to ask personal questions that you might not want to share with the whole group.

You meet once with each of the two teachers during the course, as well as a personal ‘meet and greet’ call with both teachers before the course.

How much does it cost?

The current price* of the training will be listed on this page.

This price includes access to all of the online material (guided meditations, theory videos & workshops, written manual, etc), personalized instruction from two experienced teachers, the opportunity to engage with a like-minded community over interesting topics, and most importantly, a daily meditation habit you get to keep for life.

Future trainings of the same type will likely cost more, but since this is our first year running it, we’re trying to make it accessible to more people.

* If the price is outside of your financial capabilities at the moment, but you have a strong desire to attend the training, contact us for the possibility of a scholarship or payment plan.

What is the cancellation policy?

Before September 30, 2022: 100% refund (minus transfer fees)

Before December 25, 2022: 50% refund (minus transfer fees)

After December 25, 2022: No refund

As space is limited in the course, we need to make sure our cancellation policy is fair for everyone. Extreme cases for a refund will be considered if they arise.

Instead of a refund, it is also possible to transfer your spot to another person, or you can receive credit for a future training or event.

When you fully complete the training, an official personalized certificate will be available here.
